Foreign National Nabbed in West Rand Anti-Drug Operation

GAUTENG – The South African Police Service (SAPS) Florida in collaboration with the West Rand K9 unit has arrested a 24-year-old foreign national for contravening the Drug Trafficking Act No. 140 of 1992.

The suspect was arrested on 30 September 2025 at a car wash in Florida, west of Johannesburg, during a targeted anti-drug operation.

Drugs and Cash Seized

Police seized:

  • Crystal meth valued at approximately R600,000
  • Three cellphones
  • R2,200 in cash

Authorities believe the suspect is linked to a wider drug distribution network operating across the West Rand.

Court Appearance

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on 1 October 2025, facing charges of dealing in drugs.
