Hansi Flick reached his 50th win as Barcelona manager in dramatic fashion, as his side came from behind to beat Real Oviedo 3-1 after a costly Joan García error. The victory kept Barça within touching distance of league leaders Real Madrid, and the Catalans’ attacking form continues to impress — each of their last six league wins has seen them score at least three goals. Camp Nou remains a fortress too, with Barcelona winning nine of their last 11 La Liga home games (D1, L1), the only loss coming after last season’s title was already secured.
Real Sociedad finally picked up their first league win of the season with a narrow 1-0 success over Mallorca, but they remain just above the relegation zone after a poor start (W1, D2, L3). Away form remains a huge concern for La Real, who have lost five of their last six La Liga road trips (D1), failing to score in four of them.
Barcelona have dominated this fixture at home, thrashing Sociedad 4-0 when they last met at Camp Nou in March. That win extended Barça’s remarkable record of 26 wins from their last 27 home league meetings against Sociedad. Even more striking, 21 of those victories came in 22 matches played in the 21st century — making La Real one of Barcelona’s favourite opponents.
Barcelona (4-2-3-1):
Szczesny; Kounde, E. Garcia, Araujo, Martin; De Jong, Casado; F. Torres, Olmo, Rashford; Lewandowski
Real Sociedad (4-2-3-1):
Remiro; Aramburu, Zubeldia, Caleta-Car, Gomez; Kubo, Mendez, Gorrotxategi, Soler, Barrenetxea; Oyarzabal
While backing Barcelona outright offers little value, the combination of a Barça win + Over 3.5 total goals is a strong betting angle given their scoring form and Sociedad’s defensive struggles on the road.
Barcelona should have enough attacking firepower to extend their dominance over Sociedad at home. Expect La Real to put up resistance, but their poor away form looks set to continue.
We say: Barcelona 2–1 Real Sociedad
