Ga-Sekgopo, Limpopo – The R81 highway between Munnik and Ga-Sekgopo in the Capricorn District has been completely shut down this afternoon following a devastating collision involving two heavy motor vehicles and a minibus taxi, The taxi was travelling from a church service at Solomondale to Giyani.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 15h10, brought traffic to a standstill as emergency services rushed to the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the accident unfolded when a truck slammed into the rear of a minibus taxi, forcing it into another truck ahead. The violent impact left several passengers trapped inside the vehicles, with the full extent of injuries yet to be confirmed.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are currently attending to the injured, while law enforcement officials are managing traffic flow, cordoning off the crash site, and conducting preliminary investigations.

Authorities have confirmed that the R81 remains completely inaccessible in both directions. Motorists travelling towards Polokwane are advised to use the R71 and R36 as alternative routes.
