Pretoria, 25 September 2025 – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced that all social grants will see an increase in the October 2025 payment cycle. This adjustment, initially outlined by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana in his February budget speech, will see most grant amounts rise by R10.
The increase is part of the government's two-phase adjustment for the 2025/26 financial year, with the first having taken effect in April 2025.
The following grants will be increased by R10, effective from the October payment cycle:
SASSA has also released the payment schedule for October to ensure a smooth process for millions of beneficiaries. Payments will be made on the following dates:
SASSA CEO, Mr Themba Matlou, welcomed the increase, emphasising its role in providing a crucial safety net. "This reaffirms government's commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships," said Matlou.
He further reassured beneficiaries that the Agency is fully prepared for the October payments. “It is all systems go for the October payment cycle,” Matlou reiterated, confirming that all eligible beneficiaries will receive their grants without interruption.

Beneficiaries do not need to take any action to receive the increased amount. The adjustment will be automatically reflected in their payments on the specified dates.
