PRETORIA - The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has intensified its crackdown on illegal activities and by-law violations, arresting 44 individuals and demolishing 95 illegally erected structures at Mabopane Station on Tuesday, 23 September 2025.
TMPD Region 1 Sector 1, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and relevant City of Tshwane stakeholders, conducted extensive by-law enforcement operations to restore order and safety in the busy Mabopane Station precinct.
During the operation, a total of 95 illegal structures were demolished in strict accordance with city by-law regulations. Residents and business owners are reminded to adhere to city guidelines when erecting or extending structures, as failure to comply may result in legal consequences.

The operation also targeted criminal activities, leading to six arrests for drug dealing and possession. Additionally, four individuals were fined for selling liquor without a valid license, demonstrating TMPD’s commitment to combating crime and safeguarding communities.
Authorities arrested 13 undocumented immigrants, along with a business owner employing them illegally, under the Immigration Act, highlighting the importance of adhering to labour and immigration laws. In a related operation in Mamelodi, TMPD Region 6 Sector 1 arrested 24 undocumented immigrants in Waltloo and the Silverton Industrial area.
City of Tshwane electricity officials also intervened to disconnect and remove illegally connected cables used to steal and supply electricity to informal businesses at Mabopane Station.

TMPD Chief of Police, Commissioner YCR Faro, praised the dedication and hard work of all involved stakeholders, emphasizing the department’s proactive approach in ensuring public safety, law compliance, and the well-being of Tshwane residents.
