Over 1,900 Newly Trained Police Officials Deployed Across South Africa

BHISHO – The Eastern Cape capital came alive with the sounds of the South African Police Service (SAPS) band on Friday as 1,918 newly trained constables were officially deployed to bolster crime-fighting efforts nationwide.

The officers, who completed their training earlier this year, will be stationed across the country, with a particular focus on the 30 police stations identified as having the highest crime rates.

In the Eastern Cape alone, 849 graduates will be placed in various stations. Speaking to eNCA, provincial police spokesperson Major General Nonkululeko Phokane said the deployment strategy will be guided by crime patterns, ensuring that high-crime areas receive the necessary resources.

“A significant number of these constables will be positioned directly in police stations. This will not only enhance police visibility but also strengthen investigative capacity,” Phokane explained.

The passing-out parade in Bhisho was attended by Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia and National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, who both commended the recruits for their commitment to public service.

The deployment comes amid persistent concerns over rising crime levels in parts of the Eastern Cape, with authorities hoping the additional manpower will help improve community safety and rebuild public trust in law enforcement.
