Reasons for the Adjournment

  1. Unavailability of Commissioner Sesi Baloyi:
Commissioner Baloyi will be attending to her official duties as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) between 6 and 10 October 2025.
  2. Witness Illness:
Today’s sitting, presided over by Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, was adjourned when Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo was unable to proceed with his testimony due to a sudden illness.

Background on the Commission

The Commission, chaired by Justice Madlanga, is tasked with investigating criminality, political interference, and corruption within South Africa’s criminal justice system. Testimonies in recent weeks have drawn attention to allegations of syndicate-linked corruption within SAPS and political structures, making the hearings closely watched by the public and civil society.
