JOHANNESBURG, 7 July 2025 - Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene has broken his silence about his presence during the arrest of murder-accused businessman Katiso Molefe, insisting he was merely facilitating an exclusive interview for his media company African News Global. Speaking exclusively to Newzroom Afrika, Kunene revealed he received the Sandton property address via text message just hours before the dramatic police intervention.

"I arrived at quarter past twelve in my personal car with a young journalist and our facilitator," Kunene stated. "We hadn't even entered the house when armed police stormed in." The politician emphasized he had no personal relationship with Molefe beyond a brief greeting at a mutual acquaintance's birthday party months earlier.

Kunene, who is transitioning ownership of his media venture to young journalists, showed police his phone to prove the visit's professional nature. "They asked if I had Molefe's contact number - I didn't. They saw the address messages from our facilitator. The police were satisfied," he said. The interview would have been Molefe's first public comments since his arrest for the murder of engineer Armand Swart.
